Our Services

  • Individual therapy sessions involve collaborative work between you and your therapist to address specific symptoms or problems and help you reach your goals.

  • We offer intelligence, academic, diagnostic, and neuropsychological assessments.

  • We offer home visits to individuals who are either unable to come to our office or whose symptoms would be better treated at home.

Therapy Sessions

CBT sessions are tailored to address specific symptoms, challenges, or goals. Sessions may take place in the office or real-world settings depending on the issue (e.g., exposure to heights for fear of tall buildings). Homework assignments are often provided to encourage progress between sessions and maximize improvement.

While particularly effective for anxiety, depression, and behavioral issues, CBT goes beyond symptom management. It helps individuals explore the core beliefs, family dynamics, and patterns that contribute to these problems. By understanding and actively changing thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, clients can achieve lasting psychological health and personal growth.

For children, parental involvement is often integral to treatment. The degree of involvement varies based on the child’s age and the specific issues at hand. For younger children, parents may play an active role through behavior management or family interventions, while older children typically spend more time independently with the therapist.

CBT empowers individuals of all ages to lead healthier, more productive lives through practical strategies and deeper self-awareness.

Psychological Testing Offered

  • Intelligence Testing / Academic Testing

Intelligence testing evaluates cognitive abilities to identify giftedness or intellectual challenges. Academic testing pinpoints specific learning disabilities in areas like reading, writing, and math, as well as general learning difficulties. These assessments can support eligibility for accommodations on standardized tests, including the SAT, ACT, LSAT, and GMAT.

  • Neuropsychological Testing

Neuropsychological testing evaluates cognitive and processing issues using tailored assessments based on specific referral questions. These tests measure various brain functions, identifying challenges in areas such as auditory, visual, and motor processing, memory, language, attention, and executive functioning.

  • Diagnostic Testing

Diagnostic testing helps clarify unclear diagnoses and uncover underlying issues. It ranges from disorder-specific assessments, such as ADHD evaluations and ASD evaluations to comprehensive testing for complex conditions or personality disorders. Methods may include clinical interviews, diagnostic questionnaires, personality assessments, and neuropsychological tests.

  • Neuropsychological testing is recommended for individuals who are experiencing cognitive, emotional, or behavioral challenges. This includes those with concerns about learning difficulties, developmental disorders like ADHD or autism, executive functioning, memory, or processing difficulties.

Neuropsychological tests are valuable for individuals struggling in academic or work settings or anyone needing a comprehensive assessment for diagnosis and treatment planning. The results help guide effective interventions and support tailored to individual needs.

In order to receive accommodations or modifications in an academic setting, such as a 504 Plan or Individualized Education Program (IEP), schools often require formal testing. While New York State offers educational evaluations through the school system, these assessments are typically limited to identifying intellectual or learning disabilities. At CBPNY, our neuropsychological evaluations are more comprehensive, offering a broader and deeper understanding of your child's unique needs. The results of these evaluations not only provide valuable insights into the specific supports your child may require in school but can also help guide decisions about school placement and educational planning.

  • The testing process typically includes an initial consultation followed by two to three comprehensive testing sessions. Afterward, you will receive a detailed feedback session and report outlining your child’s academic and clinical needs, along with tailored recommendations for support and intervention.
